ABDSM Certification Guidelines

Earning certification as a Diplomate of the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine (ABDSM) is an important way to demonstrate your clinical knowledge and experience in the provision of oral appliance therapy for the treatment of snoring and obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). The certification process involves the completion of a computer-based examination and the submission of case studies, which can be submitted after you pass the exam.

Prerequisite qualifications to sit for the examination include a valid dental license, continuing education hours in dental sleep medicine, observation hours at a sleep center, and letters of recommendation from board-certified sleep physicians.

Exam Application Deadline

In order to sit for the exam, all prerequisites and the examination fee must be submitted between September 18, 2017 and October 23, 2017. Applicants will have until April 22, 2019 to submit complete oral appliance therapy cases.
